Bedouin- Solid sterling, African beads, carnelian and turquoise necklace
Bedouin is a piece that has a style that can be found in base metals but rarely in sterling, specially because of the cost but also because rarely are focal elements in solid sterling designed for it that are not prayer boxes or stone settings. I took the challenge, an ethnic piece in Sterling.
The focal construction has been created fusing different cast elements in different casting techniques -delft clay, tufa stone- with a reticulated arch on top and a large sterling ring that adds movement. At the sides two carnelian stones set in sterling -that Annalee might recognize partially- and are modified ex earrings that seemed to fit perfectly with the piece.
BOLD African bone beads with and without facets and with and without small carved accents and African glass rustic cone beads -from Kurt!- create the neckpiece that has small splashes of turquoise green teal/ish glass beads to pair with the two similar palette rugged turquoise nuggets aside the Goddess face.
Sterling hand crafted clasp finishes the piece.
The pictures where the necklace rests on the bust show size, how bold it is, how long on the chest since it is a real human size mannequin.
It measures around the neck 21 inches.
