Dew- Solid sterling, moss green kyanite large earrings

$160.00Price

I know, I had to slap my own hand to avoid keeping them. Oh Boy, sometimes it is Hard. :)

Ok, to the earrings. This crazy cool earrings in solid sterling hold green moss faceted kyanite rose cut stones that made me remember the green grapes in the vineyard when the sunlight goes almost across showing their pale green beauty. I guess nature found the way to make them remain forever in this stone...

The earrings body, large asymmetrical but cohesive in form and style has been made with reticulation techniques overlapping thin sheets of sterling at high temperatures. It is tricky. One can really Burn metal. It becomes a crumbly breakable mess with ashy texture. -Been there, done that!- The high temperatures fuse the layers and create folds with really beautiful forms.

Big but not heavy -reason why I use this overlapping technique, to be able to have great uncommon organic textures but not the horrible weight casting would produce nor the fragile thin metal required for a strong texture-

Totally and completely cool, with some mild black and beige oxidation -another trick... to oxidize with liver of sulphur if the pieces are left long time it goes from black to ashy gray, less time allows to play with colors from golden to purples, also adding things like table salt of ammonia can cause different oxidation. Keep your pieces on a string and submerge and take them out and keep checking color changes. Deep oxidation Just Can Be Removed with sanding or a torch. Sanding -or steel wool- work for flat areas but not crevices', folds, seams, etc.

They measure no counting the ear wire 59mm and 68mm approx.

I add to pictures a standard business card, a USA quarter coin and a ruler to add a visual of sizes, to be sure, you can out close to your ear a credit card, business card, etc. and that might help, if need extra pictures I can set them on the real size human mannequin ears to show you how it could look. (I honestly had not the chance/time to do it this time)
