Heretic- Solid sterling, 18k gold, jet, pearls OOAK rosary necklace
Some pieces are as mysterious as the inspiration, this piece was born from the idea of rosaries and praying beads, malas and the tactile connections used for ages to travel to an elevated consciousness, to the soul, to God -whatever the name we put to Him/Her- or to our own inner world.
Some religions could consider this heretic since the forms represented are not Saints, are not Mary or the Christ... yet... Heretic holds a woman's face with a solid gold accent -not foil nor leaf but a soldered thicker 18k gold sheet shred that is Not going to fade nor in years of constant wear- representing all women, Mother earth, Mother Nature, the Pacha Mama, Mary, Gaia, the females in your life, your Mother, your lovers, your friends and for we ladies... ourselves. The long cascade of not perfectly square boxes holding Jet beads and a pearl it also talks about us. The beauty in imperfection, the white spot among dark ones, the light and the shadows, kinetic elements to roll with our fingers when anxiety, prayer, silence, introspection arise... and on its end, one of the ghostly figures I made for pieces like this, all in sterling with a 18k gold spot -as "Her", no foil nor flakes nor leaf nor even Keum Bo but a solid sheet soldered that it will not fade and it will stay as long as the piece lives- like a symbol of the heart. The gold circle is not perfect but as imperfect as we are, same with the almost heart shaped gold accent on "her" face, not perfect as our human emotions, since perfection is our unicorn, what we aspire... not what we have, it is our conquest and can be perfected, repaired over and over and over during a life of learning, understanding.
Vintage Jet beads and silver ovals form the neck piece that finishes its "Rosary" feel, sober, different, bold in concept and symbolism open to thousand interpretations, and with a style as interesting to dress day as night.
It measures around the neck 23 inches
Cascade measures 8 inches.
