But... what it is a Sagemono really? Well, Japanese old clothing as well as the actual traditional one has not pockets. The old folks used a bag at first tied to the belt where add herbs, cigarettes or even the whole pipe! Over time to avoid slips, evolved with the addition of a Netsuke, an art work that like a big bead helped to avoid that slip as well as the ojime, other miniature sculpture used to close the strings the Sagemono has. -Check on the pics, awesome and clever-
This is an original old Sagemono country folks wore, made beautifully in bamboo kit to perfection with the art just oriental pieces have. The fabric, deteriorated due to time and use can be replaced if you are want to restore it to make it as a functional amazing bag or piece. All pieces are original as received from Japan. It is sooooooooo coollllllllllllll!!! One of my favorite "toyz" ever, because it is very hard to find one complete that can be also affordable. Other more modern and made in a more sophisticated way can be found in sometimes amazingly high prices.
This is, again, a fantastic piece. intact and with the bamboo in Excellent condition.
